About Marla

Growing up in the East County in San Diego, graduating from San Diego State University, married, and a mother of two very energetic young girls, living in San Diego at the beach is like living a dream for this vibrant, San Diego native.

Her career path from real estate agent to new homes sales person, to leading the CityMark Realty office has been a combination of “true love for the business   ….hard work…and dedication to a profession she believes in….”

Q: What drives you every day in a real estate industry that has obviously seen ups and downs in your career?

A: As a 4th generation San Diegan, I chose the real estate profession as a result of my love for the city. Despite experiencing what some called the Global Recession, nearly a decade later my passion for the industry is unwavering. I consider myself a purveyor of the American Dream. I believe with a little planning and a lot of perseverance home ownership is not only attainable but still the right of every American.

Q: What makes you successful?

A: My team approach and my leadership skills.  In 2006, I was proud to participate in the renaissance of Downtown San Diego. Working with urban in-fill developers, I have sold nearly 300 units in East Village, Cortez Hill, Little Italy and Mission Hills, as well as the ____ single family homes I have sold throughout San Diego County. But I am very aware that it was the team I had supporting me, both at home and at work, that made this happen.  I am honored by the recognition from my peers as the first recipient of the Building Industry of America’s Greatest Award for Urban Leadership.American.

Q: With the electronic access to information, do the same marketing techniques apply today?

A: Most definitely.  Whether it is a new home community or a single home you still need to do in-depth market research, market positioning, strategic buyer qualification, product development, and design consultation.  This is an unparalleled skill set I acquired while working in new construction. The internet just gives us more immediate access.  ownership is not only attainable but still the right of every American.

Q: How do you balance it all?

A: The real answer is sometimes you don’t.  I have to prioritize daily.  Described by my clients as “a high-energy professional with remarkable attention to detail and a drive for results”, I pride myself on communication and accessibility. Those same ideals apply to my family.  I have to have the same skill set; dedication, passion, listening skills, communication, patience and the ability to make qualified, tough decisions that could affect everyone for a long time.

I am focused on delivering quality of service, integrity and trust. I recognize buying or selling a home is an intimate milestone and I remain committed to crafting a personalized experience for each client, but I have learned that my family is what sustains me.
